Onitsuka
I bought some new trainers the other day which have finally come through in the post, and while I am not entirely sure on them, I think I will be keeping them. They are Onitsuka Tiger trainers, of which i own one other pair and wear almost every day as they are ridiculously comfortable. So you would think that if you fit perfectly in the size 10 of one pair you would fit perfectly in the size ten of the same brand on any other pair. Evidently I was wrong. They are the same style, normal running shoe trainer, same as used by the Japanese team in the Olympics in 1966, and they are also the same size. What I forgot to consider was the fact that they are more leather than other material, and so of course this will take a while to become the right size. I worked in Fashion for 6 years, debatable on the use of the term fashion, and I even worked solely on the shoe department for a year on the men’s side, and for a year on the women’s side. You would think this would give me an idea about shoes, and while yes I can identify a Kitten Heel along with identifying all the stupid shoe symbols (chopped up cow skins symbol = Leather, who knew) I did not consider this factor. Either way, it is the red laces which I am undecided about. It is not so much that they are red, I am ginger, and so have had it built into me innately not to wear Red, but it is the strange material they are made of. I assume they have been given a coating which means they appear to have magnetic properties in that they undo themselves and slide across as if they are floating on a thin layer of ice gently spread between them, no matter how tight they are tied.
Enough moaning, they are Onitsuka Tiger Lauta (Zodiac range in the year of the Ox), bought from Schu, and they are going to be comfortable. Whether they like it or now. Anyway, for 30 quid, and to mean I now have a shoe collection to rival my girlfriends ( I have 5 pairs she has 60…) you cannot go much wrong. Have a look on schu, they still have some left…
